Terms of Service

Last updated: 1 January 2025

Welcome to Mehema. These Terms of Service ("Terms") govern your access to and use of the Mehema website, platform, and telehealth services operated by Mehema Pty Ltd ("we", "us", or "our"). By accessing or using our services, you agree to be bound by these Terms. If you do not agree, please do not use our services.

Eligibility

Our services are available to individuals aged 18 years and over who reside in Australia. If you are under 18, you may only use our services with the consent and involvement of a parent or legal guardian. By using our services, you represent that you meet these eligibility requirements.

Our Services

Mehema provides an online platform that connects individuals with AHPRA-registered psychologists for telehealth sessions. Our services include the website, booking system, and video consultation platform.

Our services are not a substitute for emergency or crisis care. If you are in immediate danger or experiencing a mental health crisis, please call 000 or contact Lifeline on 13 11 14.

Account and Booking

To book a session, you may be required to provide accurate and complete personal information. You are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of any account credentials and for all activities that occur under your account.

You agree to notify us immediately of any unauthorised use of your account or any other breach of security.

Fees and Payment

Session fees are displayed at the time of booking and vary by practitioner. Payment is required at the time of booking unless otherwise agreed. All fees are in Australian dollars and inclusive of GST where applicable.

Medicare rebates may apply if you hold a valid Mental Health Care Plan from your GP. Private health insurance rebates depend on your individual policy. We provide receipts for all sessions.

Cancellations and Rescheduling

You may cancel or reschedule an appointment with at least 24 hours' notice at no charge. Cancellations made with less than 24 hours' notice, or failure to attend a scheduled session, may incur a cancellation fee equivalent to the full session cost.

We reserve the right to cancel or reschedule appointments due to unforeseen circumstances, in which case you will be offered an alternative time or a full refund.

Practitioner Relationship

Practitioners accessible through Mehema are independent, AHPRA-registered psychologists. The therapeutic relationship is between you and your chosen practitioner. Mehema facilitates this connection but does not provide clinical advice or treatment directly.

All practitioners are bound by their professional codes of ethics and conduct, including obligations of confidentiality and duty of care.

Use of the Website

You agree to use our website and services only for lawful purposes and in accordance with these Terms. You must not:

  • Use the services in any way that violates applicable Australian laws or regulations
  • Attempt to gain unauthorised access to any part of the platform
  • Interfere with or disrupt the integrity or performance of the services
  • Transmit any harmful, offensive, or unlawful material through our platform
  • Impersonate any person or entity, or misrepresent your affiliation with any person or entity

Limitation of Liability

To the maximum extent permitted by Australian law, Mehema Pty Ltd shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages arising out of or in connection with your use of our services. Our total liability to you for any claim arising from these Terms or your use of the services shall not exceed the amount you paid for the specific service giving rise to the claim.
