Psychology, on your terms.

Mehema is an Australian telehealth psychology and counselling practice. Registered psychologists and counsellors, genuine sessions, no commute required.

Our story

Our Story

It started with a
simple question.

Why is getting psychological support still so hard? The waitlists stretch for months. The commute adds stress to an already stressful day. And for many Australians, particularly those in regional areas, young parents, or anyone with a packed schedule, traditional in-person sessions simply don't fit.

Mehema was founded after watching this gap play out again and again. Friends, family, colleagues putting off seeking support not because they didn't want it, but because the system made it too hard to access.

The goal was never to build another clinic. It was to build something that fits into your life. Something you can access from your living room, your parked car at lunch, or your bedroom after the kids are asleep. Somewhere private, pressure-free, and entirely yours.

"If the hardest part of getting help is getting there, what if you didn't have to go anywhere at all?"

That question became Mehema. We work with qualified practitioners who share the belief that psychology should meet you where you are, not the other way around. Every part of the experience, from booking to the session itself, is designed to feel warm, human, and unhurried.

Built around you

We started with the human experience, not a business model, and built everything from there.

Telehealth by design

Online from day one. Privacy and comfort aren't add-ons. They're built into every part of how we work.

Australian practitioners

Registered psychologists and counsellors, all based in Australia. They know the culture, the pressures, the context.

Your Space. Your Pace.

From wherever you are, on your schedule. You set the rhythm and we follow your lead.

Our Values

What we stand for.

These aren't words on a wall. They shape every decision we make, from who we bring onto the team to how we design every part of the experience.

Accessibility

Psychological support shouldn't depend on your postcode or your calendar. We remove the barriers of distance, waitlists, and rigid schedules.

Warmth

Every session is grounded in genuine care. We listen without rushing, we follow your lead, and we never make you feel like a number.

Evidence-informed

Our practitioners draw on approaches backed by research, including CBT, ACT, and trauma-informed care. Not trends. Not guesswork.

Inclusivity

Mehema is a space for every Australian, regardless of background, identity, or circumstance. You don't need to fit a particular mould to be welcome here.

Why Telehealth

Online sessions,
without the friction.

A lot of people wonder whether online sessions can really feel as meaningful as sitting in a room with someone. The research suggests they can be just as effective for many concerns. But beyond the evidence, telehealth also removes the everyday friction that quietly stops people from getting support in the first place.

  • Research supports comparable outcomes

Studies consistently show that telehealth can deliver outcomes comparable to in-person sessions for a wide range of concerns, including anxiety, low mood, and stress.

  • Privacy without the awkward waiting room

No familiar faces in the car park, no front-desk small talk. Connect from wherever feels most comfortable and private to you.

  • Fits around your actual schedule

Early mornings, lunch breaks, after the kids are asleep. You don't rearrange your day. Your session fits around your life.

  • No postcode required

Regional, remote, or without a suitable practitioner nearby. If you have an internet connection, you have access to the same care as someone in a capital city.

Who We Help

Built around your actual life.

Mehema is for Australians at every stage. Whether you're at uni, building a career, or raising a family, support should fit around you.

How It Works

Process

The hard part is deciding to reach out. Everything after that is straightforward. No referral needed to book. A Mental Health Treatment Plan from your GP is required to access Medicare rebates.

Book when you're ready
  • Step 1

    Tell Us About Yourself

A short quiz. Two or three minutes. Tell us who you are, what's been going on, and when you're free. Your answers help us find the right person for where you're at.

  • Step 2

    We Find Your Match

Our team reviews your answers and reaches out to confirm your first session. Most people hear back within one business day.

  • Step 3

    Connect from Wherever You Are

At your confirmed session time, click your secure link. Encrypted video, any device, nothing to install. Your couch, your car, your lunch break.

Your Partner

Not a service.
A relationship.

The connection between you and your practitioner isn't transactional. It's a genuine working relationship built on trust, consistency, and mutual respect. You bring your lived experience. They bring clinical knowledge and genuine interest in your wellbeing. Together, you set the direction.

There's no script and no one-size-fits-all approach. Your practitioner adapts to how you communicate, what you need on any given day, and where you want to go. Some sessions are structured. Some are more like a conversation. Both are valid. Both count.

Continuity of care

You see the same practitioner every session. They know your background, your context, and what matters to you. No starting from scratch each time.

A two-way conversation

You're never talked at. Your goals are set together, revisited together, and adjusted as you go. Your voice shapes the whole process.

Your Pace, always

No discharge dates, no pressure to hit milestones by a deadline. Support for as long as you need it, at the rhythm that works for you.

Questions about Mehema, how telehealth works, or what to expect from your first session? Here are the ones we hear most.

Contact us

At Mehema, you see the same practitioner every session and build a genuine working relationship over time. Every Mehema qualified practitioner is aligned with our belief that psychology sessions should feel human and unhurried.

Research from the Australian Institute of Health and Welfare and multiple peer-reviewed studies shows that telehealth can deliver comparable outcomes to face-to-face sessions for a wide range of concerns, including anxiety, low mood, and stress. Many clients also find it easier to open up from the comfort of their own space.

Every Mehema qualified practitioner is based in Australia. They use evidence-based approaches including CBT, ACT, and trauma-informed care. They're chosen for their clinical experience and their ability to connect warmly with clients. We don't work with people who make you feel rushed or judged.

Your Space means you choose where you feel most comfortable. Your living room, your parked car, a quiet corner at work. Your Pace means there are no rigid timelines and no pressure to hit milestones by a certain date. You move at the speed that makes sense for you, for as long as you need.

Yes, and it's one of the core reasons Mehema exists. If you have an internet connection, you can access the same quality of care as someone in a capital city. No postcodes, no geography-based waitlists. Where you live shouldn't determine whether you can get support.

If you've been thinking about reaching out but keep putting it off because of logistics, cost, or simply not knowing where to start, Mehema was built with you in mind. Give us a call to ask questions and see if Mehema is a good fit, or send through any enquiries via our Contact page. No pressure, no commitment.
