About Kyla McDonald
I'm a psychologist with a warm, practical and collaborative approach to therapy. I work from a trauma-informed, neurodiversity affirming and person-centred framework, with a strong interest in the connection between mind and body. I aim to create a safe, non-judgemental space where clients feel understood, supported and empowered to make meaningful changes in their lives.
My approach is flexible and tailored to each individual. I integrate evidence-based strategies with compassion, curiosity and a focus on practical outcomes. I support clients to better understand their patterns, emotional responses, relationships and nervous system responses, while building skills that improve day-to-day functioning and wellbeing. I'm trained in a wide variety of psychological approaches including Attachment Based Therapy, Schema Therapy, Cognitive Behavioural Therapy, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, Psychodynamic Therapy and others.
I work with adults across a range of presentations including anxiety, stress, trauma, emotional dysregulation, burnout, self-esteem difficulties, relationship issues, neurodivergence, somatic symptoms, chronic health concerns, and life transitions. I have additional expertise in sexual and reproductive health including sexual dysfunction, compulsive behaviours, intimacy issues and conditions such as endometriosis and perimenopause.
I also have an interest in working with clients who may feel “stuck” in therapy or who have not found previous therapy helpful.
If you'd like help deciding if I might be the right psychologist for you, I offer a free 15min chat prior to booking.
